Microsoft Translator Converse alternative
Lost Translator's conversation mode? Everyone can still talk on their own phone.
Saykiko works the way you're used to: start a conversation, share a code, and everyone reads everyone else in their own language. The people joining don't install anything.
Works in any phone browser. Your first conversation is free and complete.
Side by side
What you relied on, and where it lives in Saykiko
| What you used it for | In Saykiko |
|---|---|
| Join with a code | Yes. A QR code on the host's screen, a short code, or a link. |
| Everyone on their own phone, in their own language | Yes. 21 languages, and one conversation can mix several. |
| Guests don't need an account | Yes, and they don't install anything: it opens in their browser. |
| Speak or type | Yes. Hold to talk, tap once for hands-free, or type. |
| See what the app heard | Yes. The speaker sees what was heard and can fix it. |
| Group conversations | Small groups. Up to six phones per conversation. |
| Keep what was said | Recap, not export. The host can keep a conversation for 90 days, and everyone gets a short recap in their own language. There's no transcript export yet. |
Better than before
Things Converse never did
Fixes itself from context
Saykiko reads the conversation so far, so a misheard word or a name gets corrected instead of translated into nonsense.
The right level of politeness
Tell it who's who (a parent, a teacher, a client) and it picks fitting honorifics and pronouns, which matters in Vietnamese, Korean or Japanese.
"Didn't get it"
Listeners can say they lost you with one tap. "Say it more simply" rewrites it in plainer words, and "What does this mean?" explains idioms.
Honest fit
Who it's for, and who it isn't for yet
A good fit
- Parent–teacher conferences with one family
- Small meetings and job interviews, up to six people
- Host families, au pairs and live-in help
- Families and couples who talk across languages
- Volunteers meeting one family at a time
Not a fit yet
- Classrooms, tours, church services or anything with an audience (more than six phones)
- Live captions for deaf and hard-of-hearing people in the same language: there's no dedicated captions mode yet
- Meetings that need a transcript file afterwards
- Medical, legal or official conversations: use a qualified interpreter

Questions
Common questions
Is Saykiko made by Microsoft?
No. Saykiko is an independent app and is not affiliated with Microsoft.
Do people need to install an app to join?
No. They scan a QR code or open a link and Saykiko opens in their phone's browser, on iPhone or Android. No account either.
How many people can join one conversation?
Up to six phones, each in its own language. Saykiko is built for small conversations, not classrooms or audiences.
Does it work with people who aren't in the room?
Yes, send them the link. Each person speaks or types and everyone reads the translation, but Saykiko doesn't carry the call audio itself, so pair it with a phone call if you also want to hear each other.
Which languages does it support?
English, Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Thai, Indonesian, Hindi, Arabic, Turkish, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Italian, Dutch, Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, Swedish and Greek.
Is the conversation recorded?
No audio is recorded. Messages are deleted 30 minutes after everyone leaves, unless the host chooses to keep the conversation for 90 days.
